Why do I feel that January is taking ages to be over? I am not only counting the days but also the hours. The fact that the December wages came before Christmas is not helping either. To be honest I was meaning to be very careful this time with all the Christmas hype but it’s amazing how the “environment” and I mean the Christmas music on the streets and all the people Christmas shopping was like a spell to me. Gee, I won’t do it again this year. I bought too many things that I didn't really need. (I am not talking about gifts to friends, that of course I don't regret having bought). Now the Sliema streets are basically empty (except for when the sales were announced) and there were some days when I wouldn’t see a single person in the narrow streets close to the mall. I guess many people are more or less like me: almost broke :) and only waiting for February to start.

It's hard, I know, when you are broke, but Feb is just around the corner. Hope you can wait a little longer!
I haven't been near the shops so far this year, either, but the pouring rain is a good deterrent.
What is the weather/light like in Malta in January? Maybe you need to go to natural places to shake off the doldrums. I didn't go over on presents, but we had the same problem with wages coming in too early, and we're trying to save up for a trip to Europe right now to see our exchange daughters and son, so things are tight, tight, tight! ;-)
Yeah, I've overspent for X'mas too. When I think of it, most of the things I bought weren't necessary. The Christmas music definitely put a spell on me too! :D
Well, it's already the 21st... only 10 days to February! How times flies!!
@Hi Tot's mom :) I am counting the days but yes I also hope I can wait a little longer :)
@Hi Julie! Thanks for dropping by :) Yes, the rain is a good deterrent and it has rained a lot in December
@Hi Jen of a2eatwrite! Usually the weather is sunny though it has rained a lot this month. It is very humid but not too cold.
I am also saving up for a trip next month to Rome! :)
Yes, I am afraid that for me things are very tight, tight, tight :)
Have a wonderful day!
Hi Nessa! How are you? It's amazing right how the Christmas music has a spell on people so that we can buy, buy, buy :)
I hope this year I won't overspend for Christmas. I will make it a point in my new budget :)
Have a nice day!
In January everything here is on sale, so you can see the things that you bought as gifts coming down in price to even half of what you spent! Staying away from the shops is a good idea... Usually I like to start Christmas shopping during the summer sales, it's just harder to be motivated. It's easier when all the music, decorations, etc. have started!
...ayayay, creo que lo mismo nos paso casi a todos.
De hecho, lo mismo estaba pensando yo :)
Saludos!
Roll on February! I'm still paying off Christmas and the December birthdays!
Saving money for a trip to Rome?? LOL We will be lucky to have some money left until we receive our next salary...forget about saving money! :))
@Hi Starlilly! Buying the Christmas gifts in summer because of the sales...That's a good idea! Thanks a lot!
@Hola Farfallina! He estado visitando tu blog. Espero leer tus artículos pronto :) Abrazo!
@Hi "The world according to me" As you said "roll on February" :)
@Hi Red ;) Well, fair enough, we are most probably not going to save enouth but anyway we are going, we already have the tickets so we should better try to save something, right?
Tell me about it. Here, we have to continue spending (in fact much more than Christmas) because of our Chinese New Year celebrations.
It's the biggest even in our Chinese Calendar and people go on a shopping frenzy, buying new clothes, pyjamas, towels, bed sheets, household stuff, food for reunion dinner, snacks and oranges for guests, hongpao (lucky money) for parents, family and friends... we will be so broke by February, and continue to be broke for the next few months!
Deliranteeeeee...
Si no te leyera te extrañaria...
Eres tan parte de el, que destacas en su azul, al igual que el azul que rodea tu hermosa Isla.
Con mucho Cariño...
